Chapman Educational Foundation

The Chapman Foundation was established in 1994 to generate resources urgently needed to restore and sustain high-quality education for the students of Chapman Elementary School. The Foundation each year strives to replace declining public revenues with contributions from Chapman families and other supporters. The Chapman Educational Foundation raises money to support the school’s educational plan as developed by the principal in consultation with parents and teachers. A

School foundations are the only way a school can raise funds to pay for additional school personnel, or full-time equivalents (FTE). However, the Foundation is not limited to only purchasing the services of school personnel. The Chapman Educational Foundation, with the recommendation of the principal, may direct resources toward other critical needs within the school.

N  e  w  s     a n d     E  v  e  n  t  s 2009-2010 Chapman Educational Foundation Chapman families should feel proud of how well the school is doing. Due to the efforts of the Foundation last year, we continue to benefit from our full-time librarian, music teacher, and P.E. program.  In addition, our school counselor moves from half-time to full-time this year. The Foundation sponsors many fundraising events and activities throughout the school year.  Our largest event is the Chapman School Auction, which will occur in late November, 2009.  Mark your calendars, and bring your checkbook!  The auction is sponsored by the Chapman PTA, with proceeds benefiting the Foundation. Throughout the year on Friday mornings, you can buy Chapman swifts t-shirts and other items at the Swift Store, located in the front hallway.  In spring, we kick off our annual direct-giving Family Campaign.  Last year, parents, students, and friends of our school raised enough money to close its budget gap.  The broad support was amazing and demonstrates our community's deep commitment to our children's education. When it began, the work of the Foundation was simple: to communicate the need for financial support to those willing and able to replace revenues lost through tax limitation ballot measures. A decade later, we still lack a dependable and adequate public education funding solution, and funding continues to erode. The financial support received now is as compelling as ever. P  u  r  p  o  s  e Why do we need the Chapman Educational Foundation? As established by School Board Policy in 1994, school foundations are the only way a school can raise funds to pay for school personnel, or full-time equivalents (FTE). However, the Foundation is not limited to purchasing only FTEs. The Chapman Educational Foundation can, if the Principal so desires, use the funds for other critical needs within our school.
